School Meals

Catering at the Academy

Supervision during the lunch hour is delegated to the Lunch Supervisors. Children are expected to follow the day to day organisation of lunchtimes, adhere to the academy rules and carry out all reasonable instructions of the supervisors. Pupils who repeatedly or seriously behave badly during this time will not be allowed to remain on the premises and parents will be asked to make alternative arrangements for their child.

Who is entitled to free school meals?

The government has decided that all pupils in Reception, year 1 and year 2 should be able to have a free school meal at lunchtime. This offer does not depend on your household income or whether you receive any benefits – every child in these classes is eligible to take up the offer.

For parents of children in years 3 - 6, if you are on Income Support of Job Seekers (income based) allowance, you may be entitled to free school meals for your children.  If you think that you might come into this category, you may obtain the necessary form from the academy office and return it when completed for approval.

How much are school dinners for those who need to pay?

Academy lunches for years 3 - 6 cost £2.50 per child. Dinner money should be paid in advance on the first morning of each week, usually Mondays via our online payment system 'Pupil Asset Parent'.

Packed lunches

If your child brings sandwiches, please see that they are brought in a suitable container, labelled with the child’s name and class.  Leak-proof drink containers should be provided and because of the obvious danger, no glass bottles or fizzy drinks should be included.  Any remains, empty containers, or uneaten food should be taken home, and NOT emptied into waste paper baskets (ants love this!).

Lunch box ideas

Whether you're giving your child a packed lunch every day, or are just doing it now and then between school dinners, coming up with new ideas can be tricky. The Nutritionist Resource website has loads of healthy lunch box ideas for you to try.

Cool milk

Our School Milk Scheme

Did you know our school provides a school milk scheme? By registering your child for our school milk scheme they will receive a 189ml (third of a pint) carton of semi-skimmed milk every day. This is delivered fresh and chilled to their classroom every day.

How much does it cost?

Thanks to government subsidies, school milk is free for all under-fives and is subsided at around £15 a term for children aged five or older.

Why should I register my child?

School milk provides your child with essential nutrients. It is also rehydrating and energy boosting, helping to bridge the long gap between breakfast and lunch so children stay focused.
