September Opening - Monday 6th September 2021
September Opening - Monday 6th September 2021
We are delighted to inform you that the latest current Government guidance indicates that everything will be returning to normal in September. We can return to events such as whole school assemblies. There will be no further bubbles and year groups can mix unless we have an outbreak of cases. In this case we will return to bubbles.
School attendance will continue to be mandatory from the beginning of the new academic year. For parents and carers of children of compulsory school age, this means that the legal duty on you as a parent to send your child to school regularly will apply.
To support attendance and to comply with health and safety law, we will continue with;
- Maintaining good hand and respiratory hygiene including the message of 'catch-it, bin-it, kill-it'
- Maintaining enhanced cleaning
- Keeping occupied spaces well ventilated
- Following public health advice on testing, self-isolation and managing confirmed cases of COVID 19 in the academy. Provide remote education for children isolating when they have tested positive.
- Promoting and support mental health and well-being in the academy.
The children will return to eating their lunches in the academy halls.
Hot meals will be available in the Autumn although initially these will be available three days a week with a cold option on the remaining two. This will support the academy in managing the changes required if there is an outbreak of Covid and we must return to bubbles. By retaining some cold options, the academy will be able to manage the move from hot to cold meals for the first few days if it is necessary to return temporarily to bubbles.
To reflect the current menu, the cost of meals will be £2.00 a day. Parents will need to use their Pupil Asset Parent account to pay for academy meals.
Staggered arrival and collection times
Many parents prefer the one-way system and would like to keep this for September. However, so it can be managed safety and without long queues onto the pavement we are slightly staggering the drop off and collection times.
Drop off Times
|8.30am - 8.40am||All children in years 3,4,5 and 6 and siblings.|
|8.40am – 8.45am||
All children in Foundation classes, year 1 and 2.
Childminders, please drop off at this time.
Pick up Times
|3pm – 3.10pm||
Foundation classes, years 1 and 2 and siblings.
Childminders, please collect at this time.
|3.10pm||All children in years 3,4,5 and 6|
There will be no need to socially distance in the queues. All children and parents will enter the same way into the academy. The children will also be lined up outside as they are now ready for collection. To ensure the one-way system continues to work please do not overtake and please keep the line moving.
We recommend that children in Year 5 and 6 are those that are permitted to travel to and from the academy unaccompanied by an adult. Parents must ensure their child understands the entry system and exit system. Year 5 and 6 parents will need to complete the consent form that will be sent to them, before the start of the new term.
Class teachers and Academy Office
Class teachers will be available at the end of the day for any urgent queries. Senior staff are available at the beginning and end of the day. In order to keep the one-way system moving could we ask that non-urgent queries are communicated with class teachers on Class Dojo or by emailing the academy office using firstname.lastname@example.org
The school office will be open to parents but if your query can be dealt with through the office window or by e mail then please choose these options. This ensures the entrance area does not become congested with adults or preschool children.
Breakfast Club will reopen on the Monday 6th September and will run from 7.30am until 8.40 am.
Places at the Breakfast Club are limited. If you require a place for your child for September, please contact the academy office.
Academy uniform will be required from Monday 6th September. If you require any school uniform this can be ordered and paid for on the Total Clothing website.
The children will be able to wear their PE uniform to school on their PE days. From September, children will take part in PE two days a week. You will be informed of these two days in September. Please note that, from September, appropriate PE uniform will be required including well fitted trainers.
We are keen to keep the number of personal belongings in the academy once again to a minimum. Children will be encouraged to bring in the following:
A named water bottle.
A packed lunch box (if required)
A school reading book and diary in a school style book bag. Please use these rather than rucksacks as they do take up a lot of room in lockers and on coat pegs for those children that still have them.
I hope you all have a good summer break, and we look forward to seeing all the children back at the academy in September.
