Our children have the opportunity to learn a number of musical instruments during their time with us and are able to join the school choir. They have the chance to take part in performances both in and outside of school.
This half term year 3, 4 and 5 have continued to develop their ability to play a musical instrument, and what a fantastic job they are doing. Year 3 are learning to play the Recorder, year 4 are learning to play the Clarinet and year 5 are learning to play the Ukulele.
We look forward to a special assembly performance in the Summer term to showcase their new skills.
This term, we held an assembly to celebrate all of the musical talent here at Discovery. We enjoyed solo performances on the piano, guitar, and trumpet as well as a whole class performance on the clarinets from 4Br. We were also treated to some Christmas songs from the choir to get us all in the festive spirit. A huge well done to all of the children who performed, keep up the great work and we hope to see how you have progressed later on in the year. We hope it inspired some more children to begin learning to play an instrument.
We are also keen to take part in community activities and in the last week of term, our Discovery choir walked to Bishopsfield and Cherry Blossom care homes to sing some Christmas songs for the residents. They sang beautifully and had accompanying actions which the residents really enjoyed watching, with some ladies and gentlemen joining in. Both care homes provided the children with a drink and snack which was much appreciated, and the children chatted to the residents and wished them a Merry Christmas. We were very proud of how sensible the children were and for being so enthusiastic and willing to make someone else's day. We hope to attend both care homes again for more performances next year.
